Shoe or Step

Karna asks Lord Krishna:  "My mother left me the moment I was born. Is it my fault I was born an illegitimate child? I did not get the education from Dhronacharya because I was considered not a Kshatriya. Parshuram taught me but then gave me a curse to forget everything (much before he came to know I was Son of Kunthi Matha belong to Kshatriya) . A cow was accidentally hit by my arrow & its owner cursed me for no fault of mine. I was disgraced in Draupadi's Swayamvar. Even Kunthi Matha finally told me the truth only to save her other sons. Whatever I received was through Duryodhan's grace. So how am I wrong in taking his side ? Lord Krishna replies aptly, You know that I was born in a jail. Death was waiting for me even before my birth.  The night I was born I was separated from my birth parents. I got only cow herd's shed. I had with multiple threads and attempts on my life, even before I could walk. On the other hand, my dear Karna, from childhood, you grew up he

Monkey of the Mind

There is a beautiful story in the yogic lore. A man went for a walk and accidentally walked into paradise. After the long walk he felt a little tired and thought, “I wish I could rest somewhere.” He saw a beautiful tree beneath which was wonderful, soft grass. So he went and slept on the grass. After a few hours, he woke up well-rested. Then he thought, “Oh! I am hungry. I wish I had something to eat.” He thought of all the nice things he wanted to eat and all of them just appeared in front of him. After he had the sumptuous food, the man thought, “Oh! I wish I had something to drink.” He thought of all the drinks he wanted and all of them appeared in front of him. In yoga, the human mind is referred to as markata, or monkey, because of its nature. The word “monkey” has also become synonymous with imitation. If you say you are monkeying someone, it means you are imitating someone – this is the full-time job of your mind. So, an un-established mind is referred to as a monkey . When t

Failure is not learning from the mistakes

When milk gets bad, it becomes yoghurt. Yoghurt is more valuable than milk. When it gets even worse, it turns to cheese. Cheese is more valuable than both yoghurt and milk. When grape juice turns sour, it transforms into wine, which is even more expensive than grape juice. Christopher Columbus made a navigational error that made him discover America.  Alexander Fleming's mistake led him to invent Penicillin. So, the wisdom learnt from failures/mistakes can be many like.... You are not a failure, because you made mistakes.  Don't be scared of mistakes. Just keep going, you will discover things beyond your expectations. Mistakes are experiences that can make you a more valuable person. It is not practice that makes us perfect. It is learning from mistakes that makes us perfect! You are a failure only if you do not learn from your mistakes.

Live narurally

A flower is not thinking of giving fragrance to you, it has no such intention.  A tree is not thinking of giving oxygen to you, no such intention in its mind.  The earthworm is not thinking of making the earth fertile for your crops, no such intention in his head; he has no head, but whatever they do, they’re doing good things.  Yes or no? Whatever they do, whichever way they live. If they eat, they’re doing good things; if they shit they are doing good things. Isn't it so? Because they’re just being themselves. They are living according to their nature, so they don't have to think of doing good things. Be human. Naturally.

Meditative

When Socrates was given poison,   he had gathered all his disciples.   One of the disciples asked,  " Before you leave us,   please tell us whether the soul survives or not". Socrates said,  " you are asking to answer a question that I'm unware.   Let me die and see.  Let me  die fully aware".  "Then, there will be  two possibilities.   Either  I am gone,   finished,   with the body finishing,   and there is nobody left to be aware. O r   the body will be dying   and I will be moving into some other form".   "So, b ut before death,   how can I say"?   "So only  I am so excited to die". Do every action, thinking and feeling with awareness, alertness and mindfulness. .that is being in a meditative state.  It can even when dieing.

Let it go by Balu

Let it go, letting go Let it go, let it go Letting go, letting go When we come, when we come We bring with it, we bring with it What we want, what we want  We hold to behold, we behold and hold What to let, when to let go When to let, what to let go Mind in a storm, mostly in a storm Aiming to be calm, calming to be calm Until we let go, we let it go There will be no balm, no balm  Set the alarm, slam the alarm To let it go, to let it go When we go, while we go Willy-nilly we have to let it go Let it go, let it go Letting go, letting go!
